• Wear It Inside Out!

Lingerie is so in this season it’s out!

Yes, you did read that right. Whether you are a fashionista or a complete novice, you’ve probably heard of (or seen) the “lingerie as outerwear” trend. It’s an easy one to understand; with such a variety of beautiful undies available and the amount of money you can end up spending on them, it makes perfect sense to want to show off your purchases to more than just The Lucky One. And the fashion world has embraced this way of thinking, positioning bralettes, bodies and corsets as totally legitimate daywear. In essence, it's as simple as reversing the way you get dressed!

But this trend isn’t about provocation. To get my point, Google "Lingerie as Outerwear" and what do you see? There are no heaving bosoms, seductive stares or impossible poses (how do they actually do that??) Instead, you see women rocking a look that is both casual and sophisticated at the same time. Case in point; Vanessa Kirby on The Graham Norton Show recently.

Our favourite way to wear this season's elaborate bralettes is teamed with denim, oversized shirts and a cheeky pair of ankle boots. Or for a night on the tiles, a lace one piece, bodycon skirt and killer heels is where it's at. OK, so you may need to add nude nipple covers to your shopping list and perhaps indulge in a drop of Dutch Courage, but just think how this is going to switch up your wardrobe - without having to throw everything out and start all over again! We've all got pretty undies already, right? But if you haven't you're certainly on the right website... ;-)

So, if you have never tried lingerie as outerwear before, adding some small accents to your outfit is the perfect way to test the waters. High-neck and strappy bras look fantastic under a shirt or blouse with one or two buttons strategically left undone. They are also both popular styles at the moment so there is large selection available for any type of budget.

If you feel a little bolder, you can easily swap an item of clothing for a piece of lingerie. Longline bras and basques look great with high-waist trousers and skirts and you’ll have less laundry to do! Bodysuits are also easy and versatile items to incorporate into an outfit, even for work. Think satin stretch body under a business suit... it's power dressing with a feminine edge.

However, if all this make you feel a tad insecure leaving the house, try remembering that you are dressed; Underwear is still clothing. Granted, it's clothing that we usually hide, but clothing nonetheless. You can be just as elegant and well-dressed wearing lingerie as any other clothing, sometimes even more so. The most important thing is to be yourself. Wear things that make you feel good and are comfortable, whatever that means to you. And have some fun!
